ARFM (Authority of Radio Frequency Management) of Vietnam Telecoms Regulator, attended a FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) and training in Pretoria and Cape Town, for the delivery of 6 x RFMS (Remote Fixed Monitoring Stations) and 3 x CC (Control Centres) to be delivered and installed by GEW Technologies and Thanh Loi Co, our local business partner in Vietnam.  This is a follow-up contract after the delivery of 5 x RFMS and 2 x CC in 2012.

All Skylark7050C Spectrum Monitoring Systems were tested to ARFM's satisfaction and training was compreshensive, with practical hands-on experience gained by the users.

GEW Technologies and Spectrum Research Consultancy (Mr Jan Verduijn) presented a 3-day Spectrum Monitoring course from 8 to 10 April 2014 for the local Telecommunications Regulator (ICASA).

Jan Verduijn has vast experience in the ITU field, having served as Chairman of ITU-R SG1 WP1C from 2003 to 2012. Excellent theoretical knowledge was share by Jan on the key elements in Spectrum Management i.e Frequency Management (PLANS), Licensing (PERMITS) and Enforcement (VERIFIES).

The role of  Monitoring was again stated as to support these key-elements in order to realise a usable and interference free frequency spectrum. Practical demonstrations/exercises were conducted with the DF & Monitoring equipment (SkyLark7050C and Skyi7000) to empower the ICASA trainees with the “hands-on feel” on how the execute the various tasks required in spectrum monitoring.

The next Spectrum Monitoring course will be presented on 7 to 9 October 2014.

ITU Dubai ITU Telecom 12 LogoTelecom World 2012 was held from 10 to 14 October 2012 in Dubai.  This event was hosted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of UAE and is the leading platform for the global ICT community to connect, debate, network and share knowledge.

GEW as a frequent exhibitor at these ITU world events, demonstrated the Skylark7050C and Sky-i7000 Spectrum Monitoring and Direction Finding products.
